Birding

This hawk was looking at me the way “birders” look at you when you try to identify what kind of hawk you saw. I hold fast to my belief that “bird” is not a word that should be turned into a verb, but I do love photographing the “cool birds” that have talons and are carnivorous. I have learned, however, that the best way to identify a hawk is just to call it a red-tailed hawk and then sit back and wait for the internet to correct you. After careful examination, I’m pretty sure this is a juvenile sharp-shinned ferruginous Coopers Swainsons red-shouldered broad-winged red-tailed hawk.
