Technically, “crepuscular rays” are pointing upwards, and occur after the sun has set or before it has risen, so these are just rays of sunlight breaking through the clouds and catching the very high moisture content of the air after a drenching rain. My photographers call this phenomenon “God Rays.” This photo was taken in the Susanville, CA area. The mountian under the rays is Shaffer Mountain.
