Good Catch
More often than not, catching a fish at the lip of Brooks Falls is a matter of waiting until one winds up between your front feet, and then corralling it with a paw and your mouth before it can make its way past you in the fast current. What the photographers come for, however, is the more rare instance when the fish jumps into “catch it in midair” range. This is the moment after the catch, and the bear is stepping backwards to make its way to shore to eat while another bear takes its place on the lip of the falls.
