Most of my photos of bald eagles were taken from my kayak. This is a rare exception. I was on shore, and this eagle was perched near its nest. I waited a while before it finally took off from this tree top, giving me a fun profile view. The timing of the wing position was a bit of luck. I have several similar images where the face is blocked by the wing.
