This was a very fun encounter with a curious and cute gray fox. This is the same fox and the same encounter as in my photo titled “What does the Fox Say,” which was the Sierra Nevada Conservancy winner in the California Wildlife Photo of the Year Contest in 2023. I felt like a lot of personality came through in this shot. Foxes always look like they know something you don’t.
